"Kindred" by Octavia Butler

4/5. This book was powerful, innovative and best of all- it reads like a movie. Butler took the well-known concept of time travel and put her own spin on it. She wrote characters that felt hauntingly real, and I look forward to reading more of her books. This is the kind of story that lingers in your mind for weeks.
